Marlborough born and raised, it is not surprising that Brent Marris has devoted his life to viticulture. Brent became the region's first born and raised qualified winemaker, graduating from Roseworthy Agricultural College (South Australia) in 1983, with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Oenology (winemaking).

With more than twenty years grape growing, winemaking and marketing experience, his history of crafting wines for the world are testament to his skill and passion. Brent is one of New Zealand's most respected winemakers and has been at the forefront of New Zealand's viticultural development.

He is renowned for his ability to blend varietals in a manner that best represents the region's style.

Both the Marris and De Bortoli families are excited about the creation of 3 Tales and the beginning of a successful trans tasman partnership.

Darren is a third generation winemaker and Managing Director of De Bortoli Wines, one of Australia's leading family wine companies. Darren knew his destiny from an early age. His grandfather Vittorio De Bortoli, founder of the family wine business, decided in true Italian dynastic tradition that his grandson would become a winemaker

Darren studied winemaking at Roseworthy, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Oenology. He returned to the family winery and created a revolution in sweet wine whilst still in his early 20s, with Noble One Botrytis Semillon.

Darren has enhanced the De Bortoli family's leadership as an industry innovator. Taking a patient, long term view on industry trends, Darren embodies a strong wine growing culture and the family belief that they are guardians and managers for the next generation.
